Staying on top of the latest trends doesn't have to be a chore! Here's how you can shake up the look and feel of your home in 2022.

A new year means new interior design trends. If you're considering a home makeover, it might be worth reading up on some new styles that are sure to be a hit in 2022. Many designers continue to observe the pandemic's impact on interior trends. From enhancing comfort to bringing nature indoors, many of this year's design choices directly reflect the lifestyle changes of the last 24 months. Our real estate agents are always reading up on the latest design trends every year, so we wanted to share a list of this year's biggest trends:

  • Thinking Green
All of the time spent outdoors these last couple of years have certainly impacted interior trends. Green is definitely a color of choice. We've already noticed so many people are incorporating shades of green into their kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms. Green promotes both peace and rejuvenation, both of which are much needed this year.

  • Putting Books On Display
If you've seen an increase in book collections serving as the backgrounds of your coworker's zoom calls these days, it's not necessarily a coincidence. Mini libraries are becoming quite the trend for both living rooms and home offices. We've actually seen many beautiful book displays at some of these new Brooklyn homes for sale. With so many different ways to show off your books, the opportunities are endless!

  • 3D Art
Eye-catching art displays that truly pop are creating an interesting design trend this year. Think wall displays made from 3D art, decor, and other elements. 3D art is a great concept if you're looking to create a focal point in a living room or dining room.

  • Bold Colors
We've noticed 60's and 70's design trends slowly coming back into style over the last 12 months, so we wouldn't be surprised to see an increased movement towards bold colors in 2022. While neutrals have been in-style for decades, bold colors are just another example of people bringing the outdoors inside this year.

  • Curved Furniture
If you're thinking about ditching the straight edge furniture in favor of something with more curves, you're not alone. Curved furniture is definitely in right now, and it can create a compelling look in any living room. Many people associated curves with comfort and safety.

  • Elegant Patio Decor
Outdoor entertaining is at an all-time high, so expect to see major investments in outdoor decor this year. Complete patio makeovers include upgraded furniture, elegant rugs, and stylish tables. The outdoor area design is essentially becoming an extension of indoor decor.

  • Multi-Purpose Rooms
Following the pandemic, rooms no longer serve a single function, and people are making the most of every space. We should continue to see multi-functional designs incorporated into single rooms. Whether it's storing the home treadmill in the living room, or a spare bedroom that doubles as a home office, multi-functional rooms are here to stay.

  • Peaceful Spaces
Following two years of stress and chaos, there is a huge emphasis on the importance of peace and quiet. Developing interior spaces that improve emotional well-being will be key. This will play out in the form of closed floor plans and mindful spaces that include bright and calming decor.

It's always fun trying to predict what design trends the new year will bring. For more tips on how to redesign your interior, contact us today.
