If you want to see more of Long Island and stay active, dust off your bike and hit these local trails.

Biking around Long Island is a great way to get to know the area, discover scenic views, and also fit in some exercise this summer! Long Island has tons of well-maintained bike trails that provide unique views of our area's natural beauty. Whether you're an experienced cyclist or just looking to get out of the house, here are some of our real estate agents  favorite places to bike:

  • Ellen Farrant Memorial Bikeway
The Ellen Farrant Memorial Bikeway provides locals with an easy way to bike to Jones Beach State Park, especially if you want to avoid parking. The trail actually starts in Seaford and runs all the way south to the beach. Many locals refer to the trail as the Cedar Creek Bike Path. The trail is mostly asphalt and is about 5.5 miles long. The best part is, you'll come across many picture-worthy views of the bay during your ride.

  • Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve - 25 Lloyd Harbor Rd, Lloyd Harbor, NY 11743
If you want see some truly unique seascapes, take a ride on this beautiful peninsula that extends into the Long Island Sound. Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve has over 27 miles of well-maintained bike trails, which allow you to take in all the natural beauty and wildlife of this amazing park. It's a great option for a scenic nature retreat, and you're sure to see some Instagram-worthy views.

  • Camp Hero State Park - 1898 Montauk Hwy, Montauk, NY 11954
Pedal by old sealed bunkers, a radar tower, and through some eerie woods at Camp Hero State Park. Portions of this park contain the remnants of an old military installation, so there is no shortage of interesting things to see. This park is said to have even inspired the Netflix show "Stranger Things."

  • Bethpage State Park Bicycle Path - Bethpage Bikeway, Bethpage, NY 11714
This popular 13.4 mile bike path winds through both suburban neighborhoods and shady parks. The bike trail at Bethpage State Park is mostly flat, making for an easy ride (though it does get crowded on weekends). You'll also find a couple of bike shops on the trail offering rentals and repairs. The entire trail extends from Plainview to Massapequa, and it's not too far away from these great Queens homes for sale.

  • Ocean Parkway Coastal Greenway
Enjoy one of the most spectacular, scenic bike trails on Long Island. The Ocean Parkway Coastal Greenway originally connected Jones Beach State Park with Tobay Beach, but an additional 10 miles of path were just added last year. You'll see amazing views of the bay, beach and marshlands that make up the Great South Bay.

  • Paul Simons Memorial Bike Path
Located on the Stony Brook University Campus, Paul Simons Memorial Bike Path takes riders on a tour of a beautiful nature preserve. The paved trail is 6 miles long, and it's open to the public. The path is mostly flat, except for a few small hills.

Our wonderful bike trails give you the opportunity to experience a whole different side of Long Island. Contact us to learn more about living in New York.
