There's always something to do on Long Island. Here are just a handful of the attractions you should visit this year.

Now that summer is in full swing, our real estate agents are busy exploring all of the fantastic parks, beaches, lakes, trails, and attractions around Long Island. It doesn't matter what outdoor activity you like to do, you can easily find it on Long Island. With so much to do, it's actually hard to have a boring weekend.

If you're searching for some summer recreation, here are some of our best local options:

  • Jones Beach State Park - 1 Ocean Pkwy, Wantagh, NY 11793
One of the most popular New York vacation destinations, Jones Beach State Park offers six miles of coastline, a boardwalk with shops and restaurants, and an abundance of water activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding. It's also a great place to swim! With so many options for recreation, Jones Beach is the go-to summertime destination on Long Island and it's a short drive from some great Queens homes for sale.

  • Long Island Aquarium - 431 E Main St, Riverhead, NY 11901
If you're looking to beat the heat, cool off at the Long Island Aquarium — one of the best aquariums in the US. See hundreds of different types of dish, get a close-up look at a shark, or snap a selfie with a sea lion. The aquarium is home to a 20,000-gallon coral reef display tank as well as numerous interactive exhibits and educational experiences.

  • Fire Island - 99 Maple Avenue, Bay Shore, NY 11706
This beautiful island destination can only be reached via ferry (there are no roads on the island), and it has miles of beaches, scenic lighthouses, and tons of natural wildlife. The island's Sunken Forest is also home to many rare plants. Visiting Fire Island is truly a unique experience. Lodging fills up quickly, so be sure to book in advance.

  • Montauk Point Lighthouse - 2000 Montauk Hwy, Montauk, NY 11954
One of the most beautiful and iconic sights on Long Island is the Montauk Point Lighthouse. This beautiful destination is surrounded by trails and gardens that offer an endless number of opportunities to snap Instagram-worthy pictures. The lighthouse is also home to a great museum detailing the area's rich maritime history.

  • Long Beach Boardwalk - 1 West Chester Street, Long Beach, NY 11561
With all the shops, restaurants, and live music on the Long Beach Boardwalk, you can easily spend an entire day. In addition to exploring all the sights and sounds, it's also a great place to walk, jog, or bike. While you have to pay to access Long Beach, the boardwalk itself is free.

  • Cooper's Beach - 268 Meadow Ln, Southampton, NY 11968
If you're hoping to relax on the beach but want to avoid the tourists, Cooper's Beach is a nice alternative. This beach is clean, quiet, and somewhat secluded. The beach offers restrooms, a bathhouse, as well as chair and umbrella rentals. However, there is a $50 per day parking fee.

With so many beaches, parks, and museums, the fun on Long Island never ends. Contact us today to check out some amazing local listings.
