Cold weather doesn't mean you need to hide away in your house! Here are some fun indoor activities you can do across Long Island.

Many of us are looking forward to beautiful spring weather so we can enjoy our favorite outdoor activities. In the meantime, there are so many fun indoor activities to do across Long Island to keep you busy and entertained this winter. Our area just happens to be home to some of the nation's best museums, malls, and indoor recreation, and our real estate agents love exploring them all this time of year. Need some recommendations on where to go? Here are our top five favorite indoor activities around Long Island:

  • Long Island Aquarium - 431 E Main St, Riverhead, NY 11901
Spend the entire day observing fascinating fish, tour the Amazon Rainforest habitat, or get an up close and personal view of a shark. The Long Island Aquarium features one of the largest coral reef displays in the world, a 120,000-gallon shark habitat, touch pools, an interactive Penguin Encounter experience, and over 100 exhibits. It's one of the best aquariums in the country, and it's right here in our own backyard.

  • Cradle of Aviation Museum - Charles Lindbergh Blvd, Garden City, NY 11530
If you're interested in flight and aircraft, you'll certainly love the Cradle of Aviation Museum. This air and space museum is full of original and replica airplanes from different eras. Plus, they have a full-dome surround-sound planetarium with several brand-new shows. With tons of programming and exhibits, this museum makes learning about science and history tons of fun.

  • Oheka Mansion Tour - 135 W Gate Dr, Huntington, NY 11743
Tour the second-largest residential estate in America. The Oheka Mansion Tour offers stunning views of this Gold Coast Mansion. The Oheka Castle sits on a 443-acre located on the highest point on Long Island. Tours provide an inside look at the estate and gardens. They're by appointment only and begin at 11 am each day. If you're inspired by this amazing residence, there are some beautiful Huntington homes for sale just a few miles away.

  • Roosevelt Field - 630 Old Country Rd, Garden City, NY 11530
Roosevelt Field is Long Island's biggest and best mall. It's also the 10th largest mall in America. There is a huge variety of retailers and restaurants, you can easily spend an entire day shopping. The mall is centrally located on Long Island, so it's easy to access from anywhere. The site also has a bit of history: It served as a historic airfield that was used by both Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh.

  • Nassau County Museum of Art - One Museum Dr, Roslyn, NY 11576
Just down the road from our favorite Nassau County homes for sale is one of the best art museums in the country. The Nassau County Museum of Art is in the 145-acre Frick "Clayton" Estate, and it features beautiful paintings and photography from many different eras. Rotating themed exhibits showcase work from many local and national artists. When weather permits, you can enjoy the beautiful outdoor sculpture area and arboretum.
