Long Island has built up a reputation for crafting great wine. Here are the places you can experience it.

If you love wine, visiting the North Fork region is an unforgettable way to spend a weekend. Also known as Long Island's wine country, this area is home to a robust community of wine producers. Long Island is famous for its red wine varieties, so if you love a nice glass of Cabernet or Merlot, there are over 60 wineries and vineyards nestled along North Fork's country roads. These popular summer destinations provide Long Islanders with the opportunity to relax and indulge with friends and family.

Here is a list of our favorite spots for wine lovers. You might just bump into one of our real estate agents in a tasting room.

  • Sparkling Pointe - 39750 County Rd 48, Southold, NY 11971
Sprawling vineyards, a charming tasting room, and a dozen spectacular wines, Sparking Pointe is a good choice for a date night, a friend's weekend, or even a wedding. Sit-down tastings are available but do require a reservation. The winery hosts numerous events and live music throughout the summer, and they even have a Wine Club. The estate is absolutely stunning, and a guided tour is the best way to see the grounds. While you're in the area, a guided tour of one of these Suffolk County homes for sale might also be of interest.

  • Paumanok Vineyards - 1074 Main Rd, Aquebogue, NY 11931
Between the spacious tasting room and the expansive views of the vineyard, Paumanok Vineyards is relaxing and gorgeous. There are 23 wines available, including the very popular 2015 Minimalist Cabernet Sauvignon, which is a must-try for both novices and wine connoisseurs. This winery is open every day from 11 am to 5 pm, and reservations are highly recommended. If you'd like to stay for the weekend, there are numerous hotels and bed & breakfasts nearby.

  • Macari Vineyards - 150 Bergen Ave, Mattituck, NY 11952
With highly-elegant tasting areas that sit on the edge of a 500-acre vineyard, Macari Vineyards offers an unforgettable experience. Tastings are available by appointment, and you can choose between the spacious covered deck overlooking the breathtaking vineyard, the intimate barrel cellar, or a private tasting suite. You can also stroll over to the coast and enjoy views of the Long Island Sound. Pair your wine with an assortment of cheeses and cold cuts, but reservations also come with a gourmet launch. The property is also dog-friendly!

  • Sannino Vineyard - 15975 County Rd 48, Cutchogue, NY 11935
This family-owned and operated boutique winery and vineyard sits in the heart of the North Fork region and sustainably produces some of the best wine on Long Island. You'll love the peaceful atmosphere around the vineyard and the rustic vibe of the tasting room. If you're hungry, there is an extensive lunch and dinner menu with light fare to full entrees. The best part is Sannino Vineyard has its own bed & breakfast onsite, so it's a great option for a romantic getaway.
