Don't let the cold weather spoil your enjoyment of Long Island. Here are just a few of the fun indoor activities you should try this winter.

While cold weather keeps many of us indoors this time of year, weekend fun doesn't have to stop in the wintertime. From world-class museums to fun indoor activities, there is no shortage of fun things to do around Long Island this time of year. If you're starting to experience cabin fever, it's time to head out to learn something new, get some exercise, or have some fun. Our real estate agents are here with a list of fun options that will get you out of the house this winter.

  • Long Island Children's Museum - 11 Davis Ave, Garden City, NY 11530
If you're looking for an awesome place to take the kids this winter, make sure the Long Island Children's Museum is at the top of your list. With 14 interactive exhibits, live theater, and art spaces, children of all ages can explore, play, and create. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm and general admission is $17. If you're interested in living in the area, we can recommend some beautiful Nassau County homes for sale.

  • The Gravity Vault - 40 Melville Park Rd, Melville, NY 11747
Have you always wanted to try rock climbing? The Gravity Vault is the perfect place for beginners. This indoor rock gym offers two types of rock climbing. There is Top Rope Climbing, which allows you to scale a 40-foot wall with a rope and harness. You can also try Bouldering, which involves climbing a 15-foot boulder wall without ropes. Day passes are $28 for adults and $20 for youth, and staff-led rock climbing classes are also available.

  • Escape Game Long Island - 718 Portion Rd, Lake Ronkonkoma, NY 11779
Escape Rooms are all the rage these days, but Escape Game Long Island takes this fun activity to another level. Four escape rooms and four unique play styles will keep you coming back again and again. Each room offers a series of challenges that must be solved in 60 minutes to escape. While you're in the neighborhood, be sure to schedule tours of your favorite Ronkonkoma homes for sale.

  • Long Island Museum - 1200 NY-25A, Stony Brook, NY 11790
Gain a deeper appreciation of American art and history expressed through the heritage of Long Island. The Long Island Museum has rotating exhibits that allow you to step back in time and learn all about the area's influence on our culture and our country. Admission is $10 for adults and free for kids under six and the museum is open Thursday through Sunday from 12 to 5.

  • Vanderbilt Museum - 180 Little Neck Rd, Centerport, NY 11721
The 43-acre former estate of William Vanderbilt II is now one of Long Island's most fascinating museums. The Vanderbilt Museum consists of the Eagles Nest, a 24-room Spanish Revival mansion, and a planetarium that offers educational programming. It's an excellent opportunity to learn all about Long Island's Gold Coast era. The museum is open Fridays from 12 to 4 and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 to 4.

An afternoon at one of these Long Island destinations is a great way to shake off the cold this winter. Contact us today to start your home search.
