Dining out does not always have to be a fancy experience. Sometimes, all you want is to kick back and enjoy a delicious meal in a casual, friendly atmosphere. Luckily, the Suffolk County area boasts plenty of restaurants with this laid-back vibe. Here are some of the casual restaurants our real estate agents highly recommend.

  • The Shed: 54 New St., Huntington, NY 11743
If you're in the area looking at Huntington homes for sale, then The Shed is the perfect place to stop for a casual lunch or dinner. They have a beautiful patio, surrounded by lots of lush plants.

The Shed serves brunch all day, and customers love their Breakfast Bowls. They're topped with an incredible chipotle hollandaise sauce. If you'd rather have lunch, try the Shed Burger, which comes with the signature Shed Sauce. The Shrimp & Chips are also delicious, as is the Short Rib Skillet. This is hometown cooking at its finest.

  • Barrow Food House: 425 Main Rd., Aquebogue, NY 11931
Barrow Food House is a fast-casual restaurant. You order at the counter, then choose your own seat. The restaurant does have a dog-friendly patio, which is surrounded by raised garden beds.

Barrow Food House is known for their sandwiches. Their Roast Pork Hoagie, topped with crispy onions and lemon pepper mayo, is a real crowd-pleaser. Customers also love the Smash Burger, which comes with aged cheddar. There are also several vegan and vegetarian options including a Bean & Mushroom Burger and a Curry Bowl.

  • Tony's Tacos: 281 Main St., Huntington, NY 11743
The next time you're in the mood for tacos, stop by Tony's Tacos for a casual meal. This modern Mexican restaurant has an upbeat, casual atmosphere. Their Chips & Queso are incredible and great for sharing. When it comes time to choose an entree, you can't go wrong with the tacos. The Chicken Club tacos are a unique choice, stuffed with breaded chicken and melted cheese. Guests also love the Mango Jalapeno tacos.

In addition to tacos, Tony's Tacos also has delicious bowls, quesadillas, and salads. They also have a kids' menu with options like Build-Your-Own Tacos and Meatball Parm Quesadillas.

  • Cactus Cafe Tex-Mex: 212 E. Main St., Huntington, NY 11743
Cactus Cafe first opened in 1999, and it has since became a casual mainstay in the Huntington area. The restaurant's dining room is bright, colorful, and energetic. They also have different specials every night of the week. Visit on a Monday for 2 for $13 enchiladas.

Cactus Cafe has a long list of soft tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. The fish tacos, made with battered cod, are delicious. If you're in the mood for barbecue, try the Smoked Brisket tacos, which are topped with peppers and onions. Don't forget to end your meal with a brownie or cookie!

  • Old Fields Barbecue: 15 New St., Huntington, NY 11743
Barbecue is the ultimate comfort food, and there's no better place to enjoy it than Old Fields Barbecue. They smoke their meats daily and serve them alongside their homemade sauces.

Some favorites at Old Fields Barbecue are the Beef Brisket and Smoked Chicken. Don't forget to add some sides! The Collard Greens are incredible, as are the Red Skinned Mashed Potatoes. You can rinse it all down with a signature cocktail, such as a Smoked Apple Old Fashioned or a Cucumber Tom Collins.

We hope you enjoy a meal (or two) at these casual, friendly restaurants. If you're thinking of moving to the area, feel free to contact us. We'll help you find Suffolk County homes for sale near these and other great restaurants.
