Managed by the Wantagh Preservation Society, the Wantagh Museum is a fascinating site dedicated to Long Island's railroad history. Equal parts museum and park, the Garvies Point Museum and Preserve highlights Long Island's history and geology as well as its beautiful landscape. The museum overlooks Hempstead Bay on Long Island's North Shore, and it houses a large collection of Native American artifacts from the area. In addition to being a center for researching local geology and archeology, the museum is surrounded by 62 acres of woods and meadows with 5 miles of trails.
