Fall Festival

Summer may be over, but the falling leaves and cooler temperatures of autumn bring a whole new assortment of entertaining activities. Our real estate agents share intel on five top events near Suffolk County homes for sale and Nassau County homes for sale

  1. Southampton History Museum Fall Fair - 17 Meeting House Ln., Southampton, NY 11968
See what life on Long Island was like during the 18th and 19th centuries during the Southampton History Museum Fall Fair. Skilled tradespeople will demonstrate common work activities of the time while others perform 19th-century music and share fascinating stories about Long Island legends. Guests also have the chance to participate in crafts and games and explore the Rogers Mansion Museum Complex and Carriage House Thrift Shop. Mark your calendar for 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, 9/21. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.

  2. Greenlawn Historical Society Pickle Festival - Gardiner Farm, 900 Park Ave., Huntington, NY 11743
These briny, crunchy treats take center stage at the Greenlawn Historical Society Pickle Festival. Try some fried pickles and view the pickle history exhibit. There will also be a historic Lollipop Train Ride, hay rides, craft vendors, food and beverages, an antique car display, and live music. The pickle barrels are open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, 9/21. Admission is $5 for non-members, with free entry for ages 5 and under.

  3. Spooky Fest - Tanglewood Preserve, 1450 Tanglewood Rd., Rockville Centre, NY 11570
Something wicked this way comes in the Haunted Woods at Spooky Fest. The popular event returns with arts and crafts, Halloween music, a dance floor, face painting, fortune telling, and a glowing tent that casts an eerie light on everyone and everything. Children who are too young for the scares of the Haunted Woods can stroll along the Enchanted Walk with the Mystic Garden, a new addition for 2024. Spooky Fest takes place from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October. All-attraction tickets are $27, and tickets minus the Haunted Woods are $22.

  4. Famous Food Festival - Tanger Outlets Deer Park, 152 The Arches Crcl., Deer Park, NY 11729
You may have to return for all four days of the Famous Food Festival to get through all the activities. More than 100 food and beverage vendors will be on hand to serve up dishes and drinks from a wide range of international cuisines. Challenge family and friends to some friendly competitions of axe-throwing, bumper cars, miniature golf, and rock climbing. Kids have their own area with rides, face painting, and other fun. Famous Food Festival is scheduled for 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, 10/11, and 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Saturday, 10/12 through Monday, 10/14. Daily admission is $8 when purchased online, with options for multi-day tickets.

  5. Long Beach Fall Festival - Kennedy Plaza, 1 W. Chester St., Long Beach, NY 11561
For 26 years, the Long Beach Fall Festival has been a local family-friendly tradition for all ages. Carnival rides include a carousel, swinging chairs, and a Ferris wheel that overlooks the bay. Browse the food and artisan craft offerings of 40+ vendors and take a fun-filled hay ride. A kids' costume parade featuring awards and special treats is set for noon on Saturday. Festival hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, 10/12 and Sunday, 10/13. Admission is free, and each attraction costs $4. All-access wristbands are available for $30-$50.
