 Outdoor Fun

Just because the weather is cold, that doesn't mean there's not plenty to do around Long Island! Our real estate agents want to help you make the most of your time together this holiday season by giving you the inside information on winter fun, including snow tubing, ice skating rinks, and more.

Suffolk homes for sale are perfectly positioned to make the most of the winter wonderland that Long Island turns into each year. There's lots of fun for the whole family waiting around every corner. No matter if you'd prefer a wild adventure or something educational, we have a suggestion!

Here's how to kick off the new year with fun this January:

  • Adventure Park at Long Island – 75 Colonial Springs Road, Wheatley Heights, NY 11798
Adventure Park at Long Island is an amazingly exciting place that has different exploration experiences for kids of all ages and interest levels. It is best known for its zip line, ropes course, and treetop trails, with more than a dozen ways to traverse the park. Kids aged 3-6 can also enjoy a bevy of scaled-down elements in the Adventure Playground, and just about everyone loves "Glow in the Park!"

  • Animal Farm Petting Zoo – 296 Wading River Road, Manorville, NY 11949
Animal Farm Petting Zoo is part of a public-facing rescue shelter that brings in animals from all over Long Island and the surrounding areas. Families love to visit the zoo, where kids can play and interact with a wide variety of fun and fascinating critters: everything from horses to chickens to rabbits and other favorites on ten acres!

  • Center for Science Teaching and Learning – 1450 Tanglewood Road, Rockville Centre, NY 11570
Center for Science Teaching and Learning is the place where young pioneers of tomorrow become scientifically literate through award-winning exhibits. There's always something new to explore, from the Dinosaur Carnival to the weekly Sunday Science activities. Families can participate in the robotic Dinosaur Exhibit together, too!

  • Cradle of Aviation Museum – Charles Lindbergh Boulevard, Garden City, NY 11530
Cradle of Aviation Museum is one of the country's greatest museums dedicated to the amazing power of flight. There's never a wrong time to visit this museum and explore its dozens of aircraft and spacecraft across eight distinctive galleries. In January, it rolls out a variety of interactive exhibits kids will love. Trek across 100 years of flight from the first hot air balloons to today's most advanced jets and commercial aircraft.

  • Iceland Long Island Skating Rink – 3345 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park, NY 11040
You don't have to go all the way to Reykjavik for your ice skating fun when you have your very own Iceland Long Island Skating Rink just down the street from Suffolk homes! Even if you've never been skating before, this is the perfect opportunity. Iceland provides public skating time as well as ice skating lessons, ice hockey programs, ice skating parties, and everything you need to make your time out on the ice special!

  • Campgaw Mountain Ski Area, 200 Campgaw Road, Nahwah, NJ 07430
If you've been around here for a while, you know that no list of January activities around Long Island would be complete without including Campgaw Mountain Ski Area. It's the closest place for skiing near Long Island, so it makes for the perfect family day trip. In January, the season is just getting into full swing! Daily tubing, skiing, and all your other favorite snow activities are waiting. Check the website for local conditions before you visit!
