Even in the winter, Mother Nature never takes time off. During the winter months, the bounty of her land can be found around Long Island at these great farmers markets that are recommended by our real estate agents.
- Bayview Market & Farms - 891 Main Rd., Riverhead, NY 11901
For a quarter-century, Bayview Market & Farms has been providing fresh, locally-grown produce to the community. The Reeve family has been running the 150-acre farm for seven generations, dating back more than 200 years. After selling produce from the back of a truck, followed by a small stand named "Little Chief," the Reeves built their current market in 2002. Offerings expanded to include flowers, baked goods, and other specialty items. Visit the website for opening dates and times.
- The Farm on Lakeland - 109 Lakeland Ave., Sayville, NY 11782
Interested in growing your own plants and produce? Springtimes Garden Center upped its horticultural game by combining it with its produce stand to form the Farm on Lakeland. In addition to locally grown fruits and vegetables, the market sells a wide variety of annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, and seedlings. The Farm is located only a block away from the Long Island Rail Road for easy accessibility. Hours are 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily.
- Farmers Market Farm Stand - 76 Montauk Hwy., Westhampton, NY 11977
Whether you're serving dinner for the family or entertaining friends, find everything you need at Farmers Market Farm Stand. Locally-grown fruits and vegetables are brought in fresh daily, along with top-quality seafood such as clams, oysters, and scallops. Round out your dishes with local raw honey, gourmet cheeses, and luscious baked goods, finishing with some beautiful flowers to decorate your tabletop. Hours are 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday.
- Huntington Winter Farmers Market - Spirit of Huntington Art Center, 2 Melville Rd. N., Huntington Station, NY 11746
Rain or shine, spend a lovely Sunday morning browsing the goods at the Huntington Winter Farmers Market. From January until April, the Long Island Farmers Market takes shelter in the cozy confines of the Spirit of Huntington Art Center. Many of the same local artisanal vendors are on hand with produce, plants and flowers, dairy products, baked goods, and gourmet food products. The market is open 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. every Sunday through 4/27.
- LaCorte's Farm Stand - 339 Montauk Hwy., Moriches, NY 11955
Updating LaCorte's Farm Stand, a local institution since 1959, wasn't enough for owners Joseph Mileti and Kristina Kinneary. In 2024, the pair introduced the Wine Barn and Farmers Market, adding a new dimension to the already popular location. Visitors can shop for fresh produce and baked goods, including LaCorte's signature pies in dozens of flavors, then head to the Wine Barn to partake in the finest wines and craft beers produced around Long Island. Follow them on Facebook for information about their live music schedule. Hours are 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
- East End Food Market - Twin Fork Beer Co., 807 Raynor Ave., Riverhead, NY 11901
Thanks to the success of East End Food Market, the non-profit organization is in the process of building a new home that will eventually be part of a campus-style food hub. In the meantime, Twin Fork Beer Co. is graciously hosting the market's vendors so they can continue to serve the needs of the community. Hours are 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. each Saturday through 3/29.
