Culinary Tour

Summer is a time of parties and road trips, offering perfect opportunities to explore the dining delights of Long Island's East End. Our real estate agents recommend that you plan your itinerary around these wonderful restaurants near Suffolk County homes for sale.

  • Modern Snack Bar - 628 Main Rd., Aquebogue, NY 11931
In the 1950s, John and Wanda Wittmeier opened Modern Snack Bar so their family could provide classic comfort food to other families. Follow a delicious meal of roast Long Island duckling, hot turkey sandwich, or oven-baked meat loaf with some freshly-baked apple pie. Don't forget to take home some of Wanda's legendary mashed turnips. Just look for the iconic sign out front that's a landmark in its own right. Hours are 11:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon - 8 p.m. Sunday.

  • Windamere - 2255 Wickham Ave., Mattituck, NY 11952
At the turn of the 20th century, Windamere was a charming summer resort that served as a popular getaway for city residents. Today, the restaurant of the same name continues to offer guests a delightful experience. Take in beautiful waterfront views as you dine on farm-to-table dishes such as lobster rolls, Strawberry Fields salad, Captain's duck wings, and the signature Windamere burger. Visit their Facebook page for schedule and hours.

  • Round Swamp Farm - 184 Three Mile Harbor Rd., East Hampton, NY 11937
Round Swamp Farm was already 250 years old when young Carolyn Lester Snyder began selling produce out of a red wagon built by her father. Four generations of the Lester family continued Carolyn's legacy, growing her modest stand into a popular market filled with fruits and vegetables, fresh-baked goods, and tasty prepared foods. Be sure to try the chicken salad, which became a viral sensation thanks to the endorsement of Bethenny Frankel from Real Housewives of New York. Visit the website for the seasonal schedule.

  • The Birchwood of Polish Town - 512 Pulaski St., Riverhead, NY 11901
Yes, The Birchwood of Polish Town specializes in traditional dishes such as pierogis, golomki, and potato pancakes. However, the menu has a true international flavor with Yankee pot roast, penne ala vodka, chicken cordon bleu, and other items from global cuisines. Hold your wedding reception, graduation party, or baby shower at The Birchwood and wow your guests with the restaurant's famous buffet. Hours are 11:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. daily except Sunday, when closing time is 8:30 p.m.

  • Phil's - 1856 Wading River Manor Rd., Wading River, NY 11792
Can the Yankees and the Mets keep up their hot starts? Follow every game over a World Series burger and a cold draft beer at Phil's. With more than 50 TVs, live entertainment, and an extensive menu, family-owned Phil's is the place to share fun outings with family and friends. Unwind from a long day at work with their weekday Happy Hour from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Phil's opens at noon seven days a week.

  • Noah's - 136 Front St., Greenport, NY 11944
Long before "slow food" and "farm-to-fork" became buzzwords in the culinary industry, Noah's was serving fresh, high-quality food using sustainable practices. Chef Noah Schwartz and his wife, Sunita, a certified sommelier, have nurtured relationships with local and regional purveyors of beef, seafood, produce, poultry, cheese, and wine. Share a variety of flavors by mixing and matching spicy tuna bites, filet mignon sliders, roasted local beets, and other dishes from the assortment of small plates. Hours are 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. Monday, Thursday, and Friday, and noon - 9 p.m. weekends.
